3-6 September 2024

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FINAL PLENARY SESSION ON FRIDAY 6 SEPTEMBER WILL START AT 13:00 (INSTEAD OF 13:15 AS ORIGINALLY ANNOUNCED).

Welcome to Oslo!

2024 is a year of celebration for Oslo!

  • 750 years ago, in 1274, Magnus Lagabøte´s «Landslov» or Country Law was completed.

  • 400 years ago, in 1624, the medieval town of Oslo, east of Bjørvika, burned down, and Christiania was founded west of Bjørvika.

  • 100 years ago, in 1924, it was decided that Kristiania was to take the historical name Oslo.

Today, Oslo is a vibrant city of culture and nature, and we welcome you to join our local celebrations while we discuss global transformations and sustainable welfare.

The RC19 Annual Conference 2024 will take place on 3-6 September at the Pilestredet Campus, Oslo Metropolitan University.

Conference parallel sessions: Provisional programme available.

Call for Papers

The 2024 annual RC19 conference invites papers discussing drivers and challenges of social policies, including sustainable welfare, from global to local perspectives. We encourage comparative and transnational research, and invite theoretically-grounded empirical papers.

Abstract Submission

You are invited to submit an abstract of about 350 words, including information on the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s) and the email address of the corresponding author in a word or Pdf document to rc19@oslomet.no. The organizers encourage authors to include information about the empirical basis of their paper in the abstract. Abstracts from non-RC19 members are welcome, but all presenters must be members of RC19 at the time of the conference.

Paper Submission

To facilitate constructive and in-depth discussions, RC19 expects authors to circulate full papers by the submission deadline 31 July 2024. Full papers should be maximum 8,000 words, including bibliography.

Parallel paper sessions will be organised according to “Korpi's rules,” which have made RC19 meetings famous for their intellectual liveliness and seriousness.

UPDATE: The deadline for submission of your full paper has been extended to 10 August.
